The second season of the Emmy Award–winning public television series “Beyond Your Backyard” hosted by “Erik the Travel Guy” Hastings has been released on Amazon Prime Video. The nine 26-minute episodes take viewers from the exotic Azores to the crystal waters of Cozumel to jamming Jamaica, with forays into America’s Northeast, South, Midwest and Southwest regions.
Along the way, Hastings offers tips on traveling during hurricane season to islands such as Jamaica and Cozumel, he learns why Scottsdale, Arizona, is a time-tested destination, he finds out why St. Petersburg and Clearwater, Florida, are not just for retirees, and discovers the undiscovered in Boone, North Carolina, and Little Rock, Arkansas. And just in time for the release of “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood,” starring Tom Hanks as beloved children’s TV show host Fred Rogers, Hastings rambles around the Laurel Highlands region of western Pennsylvania where Rogers grew up.
“As always, the crew and I experienced something unexpected in every episode, from the Green Grotto Caves in Jamaica to spiritual healing in Cozumel,” said Hastings. “We visited the childhood home of Mister Rogers, went ziplining in North Carolina, hot air ballooning in Scottsdale and explored the gorgeous Azores.
“And O, the food we found!” Hastings added. “We tried macaphony and cheese in St. Pete, visited a family-owned restaurant in Cozumel, made unbelievable pork chops with candied pecans in Little Rock, tasted Tex-Mex in Scottsdale and sampled Cozido das Furnas in the Azores. Every delicious dish had a story behind it that revealed something special about each place.”
All nine episodes of “Beyond Your Backyard” Season 2 currently are available for binge-watching by Amazon Prime subscribers. Episode order: Cozumel, Mexico; Little Rock, Arkansas, Part 1; Scottsdale, Arizona; Boone, North Carolina; St. Petersburg/Clearwater, Florida; Laurel Highlands, Pennsylvania; Little Rock, Part 2; Jamaica; The Azores.
