MARATHON, Florida Keys — Some of America’s most celebrated grassroots musical masters are to be featured at the Florida Keys Traditional Music Festival set for Friday through Sunday, Jan. 28-30.

Event organizers report a diverse entertainment roster featuring Cajun, gospel, bluegrass, acoustic country, lively Tex-Mex conjunto, Irish fiddle and accordion performers.

Scheduled acts include the renowned BeauSoleil Cajun Trio with Michael and David Doucet, 2010 Grammy Award winners Los Texmaniacs, thumb-style guitar virtuoso Eddie Pennington, leading Irish musicians Seamus and Damien Connolly, bluegrass and acoustic country quartet Linda Lay & Springfield Exit, “kosher gospel” pioneer Joshua Nelson and local favorite Joe Mama’s Keys All-Stars Band.

The music fest kicks off at Boatman’s Sombrero Resort and Marina, mile marker 50, with a 6-9 p.m. concert Friday, Jan. 28.

Saturday’s lineup includes afternoon performances between 1 and 5 p.m. and an evening show for 6:30-9:30 p.m. Sunday’s festival performances are planned for 1-5 p.m.

“Folks in the Florida Keys love good music,” said event organizer John Holum, chairman of the National Council for the Traditional Arts. “This festival gives audiences the chance to experience the artistry of a unique group of stellar musicians performing great American music in an intimate setting.”

Tickets for individual concerts are $20 per person. A four-concert ticket package is available for $70 per person until Jan. 3.

All proceeds are to benefit the National Council for the Traditional Arts and Marathon’s Grace Jones Daycare Center.
