Costa Fortuna launched its new Summer 2024 itinerary on June 5 from Athens, Greece. The new program is dedicated exclusively to the discovery of Greece and Turkey.
From now until Sep. 13, Costa Fortuna departs every Friday from the port of Piraeus, Greece, and visits Istanbul, Turkey, and the beautiful Greek islands of Mykonos, Crete, Rhodes and Santorini. On select departures there also is a call at Bodrum, Turkey, and the Greek island of Kos replaces Rhodes.
Costa Fortuna’s itinerary is enhanced by Costa’s exclusive ‘Sea Destinations’. Guests will enjoy immersive experiences and unique shipboard offerings, in addition to the cities and islands that the ship calls at. The ship’s crossing of the Dardanelles Strait at sunset will take guests on a journey back in time: They will see the gates of the Orient appear in the spiraling veils of the Dervishes, authentic ritual dancers who have practiced a mystical, whirling dance as a form of meditation for centuries.
In Mykonos, Costa hosts a poolside Sea Party, with decorative lights and colors reminiscent of the island’s golden beaches and white houses. DJs will play music from Mykonos’ most glamorous clubs and keep guests dancing late into the night. In Santorini, guests will have the opportunity to admire one of the most beautiful sunsets in the world, especially when seen from the sea, all while sipping their favorite aperitif.
Costa’s shore excursions offered on the itinerary feature extraordinary locations and off-the-beaten path destinations. In Athens, in addition to discovering the city’s most iconic sites, guests will have the chance to sail along the channel separating two seas, passing through rocky gorges and vertical walls, to the ancient city of Corinth.
Istanbul can be explored from unique perspectives, including by boat on the Bosphorus, while in Mykonos a local farming family will take Costa Fortuna guests on an exploration of rural traditions and recipes for local dishes, ending with a sunset barbecue. In Bodrum, a tour in a “gullet,” a typical local boat, captures all the nuances of the turquoise coastline, while in Santorini guests can live like a local islander, enjoying lunch and partaking in a traditional plate throwing.
Costa Fortuna is an Italian-flagged ship in the Costa Cruises fleet, accommodating up to 3,470 guests in 1,358 cabins.
