Costa Luminosa 2018 World Cruise Departs Tomorrow

On Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, Costa Luminosa will set sail from Venice, Italy, on its “Around the World Cruise.” The thrilling 106-day journey will take guests to the most exotic destinations on the planet, crossing three oceans and visiting 41 ports before returning to Venice April 22.

Costa Cruises’ world voyage is a dream come true for all travelers and cruise enthusiasts who will follow in the footsteps of history’s great navigators by circumnavigating the globe to discover remarkable cultures and exotic lands.

The ship chosen for the “Around the World Cruise” is Costa Luminosa, one of the most enchanting in the Costa fleet. Once onboard, guests will experience the excellence of Italian hospitality, cuisine and style.

The itinerary of the 106-day journey begins with calls at Bari and Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy; Marseille, France; Barcelona, Spain; Casablanca, Morocco; and St. Cruz de Tenerife, Canary Islands.

After crossing the Atlantic Ocean, the ship will stop at Bridgetown, Barbados; Castries, St. Lucia; St. George’s, Grenada; Cartagena, Colombia; Puntarenas, Costa Rica; Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala; Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; and San Diego, Los Angeles and San Francisco, California, USA.

The cruise will continue with calls at Hilo, Hawaii; Pago Pago, American Samoa; Suva, Fiji; Nouméa, New Caledonia; and Sydney, Brisbane and Cairns, Australia. The voyage then makes stops at Lombok and Benoa, Indonesia; Singapore; Port Klang (Kuala Lumpur) and Langkawi, Malaysia; Phuket, Thailand; before finishing with calls at Colombo, Sri Lanka; Cochin, Mormugao and Mumbai, India; Dubai, United Arab Emirates; Muscat and Salalah, Oman; Aqaba, Jordan; and Katakolon/Olympia, Greece.

Along with the 41 destinations, another highlight of this cruise will be the extended calls of one or more overnights at several of the itinerary’s destinations, such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, Sydney, Muscat, Phuket, Cochin, Mumbai, Dubai, and Singapore.

At each destination guests can take a CostaTour! organized by Costa to enjoy some unforgettable moments also on land. For example, while at Puerto Quetzal, guests can take a charter flight to the archaeological site of Tikal, one of the largest Mayan archeological sites known to modern historians.

More adventurous guests can go on an adrenaline-filled excursion in Sydney, climbing the famous Sydney Harbour Bridge, a three-hour course of walkways, stairs and arches that finishes with a spectacular 360-degree view of one of the world’s most enchanting bays.

Around 2,000 guests have reserved a cabin on the cruise. They hail from more than 30 different countries, with the majority from France (around 500), Italy and Germany (over 300 for each country), Switzerland (over 200), Spain (just under 200) and Austria (over 100). The oldest explorer is a 92-year-old man from Italy, while the youngest is a year-old French boy.

For those who missed out on the opportunity this year, Costa Luminosa will depart on the next “Around the World Cruise” Jan. 5, 2019, from Venice.
