PIGEON KEYMARATHON, Florida Keys — Among voguish artists and craftspeople from around the country, the acoustic guitar stylings of Casey Weston, a finalist on NBC’s “The Voice,” are to be featured at the Pigeon Key Art Festival, set for the weekend of Feb. 11-12 at Marathon Community Park, mile marker 49.

Now in its 18th year, the critically acclaimed event is named for Pigeon Key, a small island beneath the Old Seven Mile Bridge that housed workers constructing the Over-Sea Railroad in the early 1900s.

The weekend festival is to transform Marathon’s popular park into a tropically themed oasis of artwork, pottery, paintings, glass, sculpture, photography, jewelry and more.

Each year during the two-day show artists demonstrate their skills for attendees.

The park’s outdoor amphitheater is to come alive with weekend-long musical entertainment by performers including Weston, who is scheduled Sunday from noon to 2 p.m. Among other featured musical acts are Hiram Garzaro of the Tampa, Fla., band The Flats as well as local favorites.

Families can enjoy food and beverage booths serving local delicacies, sweet treats, a kids’ corner and abundant picnic space for sitting and listening.

A Sunday art raffle concludes the weekend. Raffle tickets are to be available through 1 p.m. Sunday for a chance to win one of more than 100 pieces of artwork.

Festival admission is $7 per person for adults, $3 for students and free for children under 12. Daily hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with free parking at Marathon Community Park.

Festival goers can retain their ticket stubs and use them to get a free ferry trip to Pigeon Key. The offer is good for one year.

Proceeds from the event are to benefit the Pigeon Key Foundation.
