Dubbed SOAR, the free family-friendly event is presented by the Friends of the Key West International Airport and scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Attendees can take orientation flights on a unique 1944 North American B-25H Mitchell Bomber, walk through a 1958 original Eastern Air Lines DC-7, and view many other vintage warbird and modern aircraft on static display. Pilots will be on hand to share information about their planes, and aviation buffs can have photos taken with pilots or at the controls of their flying machines.
SOAR attendees also can explore the attractions of Key West International Airport, which recently underwent an extensive $31.6 million construction and renovation project that more than doubled its previous size.
Rounding out the day’s offerings are vendor booths showcasing aviation-related products and services, educational exhibits, food and beverages for purchase and free raffle drawings every 30 minutes.
