19TH ANNUAL FLORIDA KEYS ISLAND FEST SET FOR APRIL 10-11

ISLAMORADA, Florida Keys — Live music in an amphitheater setting, mouthwatering food and artistry ranging from raku pottery to stitchery and sandcastles are sure to whet attendees’ appetites for color, creativity and cuisine at the 19th annual Florida Keys Island Fest.

The event is set for Saturday and Sunday, April 10 and 11, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Founder’s Park, mile marker 87 bayside on Plantation Key.

What started as the foodie-friendly “Taste of Islamorada” has expanded into a weekend jam-packed with not only culinary creations, but also a variety of family-fun events. Highlights include live musical entertainment and a juried art show featuring island-style depictions of tropical birds, fish and scenic landscapes in a variety of mediums.

Artist Victor Leong’s favorite medium is sand, and he’s willing to share his expertise. The renowned South Florida sand sculptor is to build an enormous beachfront sandcastle and offer sandcastle-building lessons to the young and young at heart.

In addition, the Islamorada Chamber of Commerce is set to introduce the fourth annual Islamorada poster at the event. Posters are $10 apiece.

For epicurean attendees, Sunday’s schedule focuses on food. The “Taste of Islamorada” is to tantalize tummies with award-winning dishes of succulent local seafood and sweets. Islamorada’s finest restaurants present their signature offerings in a lively competition for the titles of best entrée, best dessert and more.
