Seattle, April 13, 2009 — Holland America Line is offering a special promotion on seven-day Alaskan Explorer cruises sailing roundtrip from Seattle: fares starting from just $749 and $799 now include airfare from 11 western cities.

Guests can book an Alaskan Explorer cruise of the Inside Passage that includes roundtrip airfare between Seattle and San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose or Sacramento starting at $749. Fares starting at $799 are available between Seattle and Los Angeles, Ontario (CA), Orange County, San Diego, Las Vegas, Phoenix or Denver. The special promotion applies to select sailings on ms Zaandam, ms Amsterdam and ms Westerdam from May 8 through Sept. 25.

The premium cruise ships sail roundtrip from Seattle through the scenic Inside Passage to highlights such as Glacier Bay National Park or the mighty Hubbard Glacier, the largest in North America. Ports of call include Juneau, Sitka, Ketchikan and Victoria, B.C.. Zaandam departs on Fridays, Amsterdam on Saturdays and Westerdam on Sundays from Seattle.

“This is an extraordinary opportunity to experience Alaska’s Inside Passage and have airfare included in the cruise price from any of these 11 cities,” said Richard D. Meadows, CTC, executive vice president, marketing, sales and guest programs. “Alaskan Explorer cruises now represent an unprecedented value in an exceptional year to visit – Alaska is celebrating its 50th anniversary of statehood during 2009.”

Meadows said guests can also take advantage of a special hotel offer in conjunction with Holland America’s Alaskan Explorer cruises. Those who book a Verandah Suite or higher category on the ship receive a complimentary one-night hotel stay at The Fairmont Hotel in Seattle. Those who book an ocean-view stateroom can enjoy a one-night hotel stay at the Seattle Sheraton for just $50 per person.

The 50th anniversary celebration includes a special Alaska Celebration Menu in the main dining room one evening during each cruise. Created for the occasion by Master Chef Rudi Sodamin, this commemorative dinner menu highlights Alaska’s culinary traditions with entrées such as braised venison steak with wild mushrooms and Alaskan king crab Cobb salad.
